Constipation

Hi all,
My little one is 5 weeks old and suffered with constipation since we left the hospital. On the advice of HV we swapped to aptamil colic and constipation. This had the adverse affect but would still result in pain and constipation. We were giving lactulose to help but stopped when the DR advised going to aptamil first milk and using dentinox.
When using the aptamil first he bought up much more wind but was still constipated. Last night we added dentinox and the screaming continued for hours.
I’ve tried all the baths, cycling of legs etc but at a loose end with how to help little one. We have been aptamil first for about a week now. Should I see any improvement?
Should I have swapped to a different brand?

Get your LO check for anorectal malformation.

Dentinox is for wind/colic not constipation Confused. Was lactulose helping?

TJR2018 · 03/05/2018 22:38

Hi, thanks for your response. yes dentinox is what the doctor prescribed to help as she thought it was related to trapped wind Confused lactulose was helping but doctor wasn’t keen on me using it

Lactulose is essentially just a sugar suspension...but it will wreck havoc on teeth (when they get teeth) You can buy it OTC quite cheaply...if it's helping, the benefit outweighs the harm.
I'd still be keen to get to the root of the problem.
