Child nosebleed

Hello, would love some advice please. My 3.5 year old has always been quite prone to nosebleeds, but he’s just had a particularly bad one where blood came out of his mouth as well, and there were a couple of quite large stringy blood clots. It might have looked a lot worse than it was but i’m worried, waiting a call back from nhs111 but has anyone had this before in their children please?

Have you seen the gp? Dd has now had her nose cauterised as she was getting bleeds a lot

Thanks for replying, I had a call back from the nhs 111 line & spoke to a lovely nurse, she said clots in nosebleeds can look very scary but not to be concerned if no other symptoms (dizziness, sickness etc) and to see a GP if he starts getting more than one nosebleed a fortnight. I just panicked as it looked like so much blood, but he was fine afterwards x

Dd had quite a few at school and managed to traumatise many pupils and teachers who didn't like the sight of blood. She got quite used to it and took it in her stride. She has hardly had any since her nose was cauterised

Interesting - thank you, and bless your Dd! My son is prone to nosebleeds but usually just a trickle, this one was a bit of a shock! Am going to keep an eye on them and take him to GP if he has any more really bad ones x
