Major phobia of needles/wasps

Dd12 is absolutely TERRIFIED of needles, along with wasps and bees. She is clear as to why and describes it as the piercing of her skin which terrifies her. She is fearful of going out in the summer which is so difficult as we are an outdoorsy family!!
I really do feel for her. She goes white and her eyes come out on stalks and it’s pure terror if she hears a buzzing noise in the garden!! As for injections and blood tests..it’s a no go!!
I’m desperate to help her. But how??

CBT or exposure therapy is probably your best bet, but make sure the person is registered. The needle issue is your worst one because it can really affect your dd's health, your GP may be able to advise on that.

Does your DD want help? I ask because unless she is willing to put the work in and push the edges of her comfort zone it won't work, she has to be willing to engage and the process isn't nice.

Hypnosis apparently works for some people, I wouldn't know where to start with that one.

Ask for help from the school nurse as there will be vaccines coming up shortly. My friend is one and I know one thing she does deal with is people with needle phobias.
