Male puberty - testicles

11yo ds is concerned about his testicles. He has developed a blue bulge on one (which I expect is a vein), and has found a separate, soft, 'extra bit' (his words) on the same testicle. Both of these are painless, but there is a place on the other testicle where contact with it gives him a pain higher up in his groin, almost in his abdomen.

Is all this normal, or does it warrant a GP visit?

I think I'd get it checked out, just to be sure.
