Chicken pox????

I noticed this eve that my 4yr old has a few raised red spots covering his torso, a couple on his legs and groin area too.
Fine I'm himself apart from a bit of a hoarse voice the past day or two, but I assumed that's from screaming lol. He's eating and drinking fine, toileting fine etc.

As it's the weekend I won't be able to get a docs appt... we have his cousins 1st birthday tomoz and obvs I don't wana risk infecting the children of it is chicken pox (he's my first child, I've never seen chicken pox in person). I've also started a new job today and I need to know whether I'll have to take next week off.

Thanks in advance, I'm not too concerned as he is fine in himself, so I'm just wondering if you guys think they look like chicken pox. (He's only just started finding them itchy and sore since I've mentioned them - psychological?)

Thanks again x

I'm afraid generally if you think it might be, it usually is. They don't start itching until they scab. You'll know by tomorrow morning as they tend to pop up quite quickly once they start.

Pretty sure you won't be going to the party Sad

Fusionchefgeoff, thanks for your reply! Tbh I don't think it's fair if we take him to the party just in case anyway, such a shame😩

Hopefully if it is it doesn't affect him too badly, mine didn't even itch when I was a kid!

By the morning you should know. My DS has them recently. Noticed a few spots one evening, wasn’t certain if it was chicken pox but by the morning he had a lot more!

Isadora2007 · 13/04/2018 22:10

Yes they look like CP to me. And yes he will probably have several more tomorrow and in the days to come. My youngest had it just before Xmas and was fine with it so hopefully your boy will be too.

My daughter has them at the moment. A few first day and not ill, day 4 now and we're at 250 + spots and has really suffered. They are itchy when they are blisters and not once they scab. Some of hers are scabbing already but as she had new ones this morning Im guessing no school on Monday. Like others have said you will know by the morning but if I'm doubt probably not worth the risk of the party.
Hope all goes ok

If it's a new job get his dad to take time off!
