Im not worried per se but lately she has been saying she has a headache and going to bed early. Is it normal for 5 year olds to get headaches often?

Has she had an eye test? Does she drink enough?

My dd was complaining of headaches and it was a combination of both.

Following as my 6 yo DD has been having these for a while (otherwise quite well) and I don't know whether this is normal.

Could she be dehydrated? If more water doesn't fix it I'd get a GP appointment.

I gave her some water and stood her to make sure she was drinking enough so I'll keep an eye on that. She had an eye test about a month ago at school and all was fine. I'll keep watching her and if she keeps complaining I guess its better to get it checked out.

The school eye test didn't pick up my dd'S astigmatism...

Thou eye tests are much easier and effective when they know all their phonics, is your dd at that stage yet?

wonderwoo · 11/04/2018 08:09

The school eye test doesn't pick up much. Definitely worth getting a proper eye test. NHS advice is that all children should get their eyes tested. I was amazed to find my ds needed glasses.... i had no idea!

Def go and get a proper eye test

My 5 yr old has been complaining of headaches this week too - he has a massive adult tooth right at the back coming through early so is effectively teething. Putting it down to that and giving him bongela & calpol. Maybe check her mouth?

id say go get her eyes checked at a proper opticians! my 8 yr old started getting headacehs! which would turn to migranes! we took him docotrs who suggested getting a proper full eye check and he came out needing glasses! i felt guilty as didnt think it would be his eyes as had them checked! hes had them now about 4 months and only had a couple headaches since, due to few late nights.
