3 seeker crying in agony - colic? Reflux? Something else?

My baby son is having these bursts of screaming. He's in pain for sure and wriggling all over the place.
It's not necessarily before or after a feed as he eats more than every 3 hours so hard to tell.
It can last for around 90 min at a time then he'll send himself to sleep.
He does burp and his poo is normal. Does one every other feed.
He's been fine all day today then started around 7Pm. Screamed himself to sleep around 9.30pm. Yesterday was the same between 4 and 10 in the evening on and off, but then had a good nights sleep.
No temperature
Any ideas what this is?
Thanks .

Forgot to say - he sometimes spits out as he eats. He coughs sometimes and sometimes cries so much he starts gagging!!

Breastfed or formula?
Could possibly be CMPA and/or reflux. Usually other symptoms too, I suggest you look them up and see if anything fits.

Breast or formula? My son was similar and I fed him both ways, once I stopped breastfeeding he was a lot better and he went on to special formula BUT that doesn’t mean stop if you are bf, just a thought

Sorry - he is formula fed now.

If your baby has CMPA you can get hypoallergenic formula that doesn’t contain cow’s milk protein.

If you are breastfeeding you can carry on but you have to cut out dairy from your diet.

NameChange30 · 06/04/2018 07:37

Did the symptoms start when you switched from breastfeeding to formula?

That can be an indication of CMPA because there’s obviously much more cow’s milk protein in regular formula than in breast milk.

@NameChange30 about a week and a half after we went from breast to formula. I also had to buy some 'milk for hungrier babies' and I'm wondering if that's had an effect too....

Try switching to Nutrimagen and see what happens. GP can prescribe it or if they won’t you could buy a tin yourself - if symptoms improve you could then go back to GP and insist on prescription.

@NameChange30 thanks - I'll give it a whirl!
