Hi, I’m looking for some advice! My 3 year old step son has had head lice / eggs for nearly 14 weeks. The relationship between my partner and step sons mom is very strained and communication is non existent as she doesn’t want to hear what my partner says. We have mentioned the lice each time and she says she is treating the hair. We treat the hair each time he is with us and use conditioner and the comb to get as much as we can but this is only every other weekend and isn’t going to make a huge difference! He hasn’t long hair which she refuses to cut as “he has a big head”, he itching and scratching is now to the point where his scalp will bleed. I’m really at a loss as what to do!

Would it be possible to contact the health visitor so she could have a chat with the mum?
We use hedrin once the 15min one and a nitty gritty comb on dd long hair and it works. Is it possible to buy the stuff and send home with him? Tell her you have treated all of you and washed all the bedding/towels can she do the same?

My partner has asked for the info for the health visitor / GP and she won’t provide the info, she just says that my partner doesn’t need to know (this has been going on for almost 2 and a half Years). We’ve offered to buy the products, but that is taken as an insult. I’ll give that one a go next time, we’ve been using vamouse and lots of combing! We’re really at a loss and hate the fact he is in such prolonged discomfort.
