Temperature

My 11 month old has had a temp since yesterday morning. It’s hard hovering around 38.4 all the time. We did manage to get it down to 38 with nurofen but then it goes back up. She has silent reflux which is made worse with calpol which is why we opt to use nurofen instead. She’s been generally unsettled and sleeping more than usual. We rang 111 yesterday who basically told us she needs to sweat out whatever is going on with her, and that parents are too quick to give their children medicine to bring down temps. I still can’t help worry that she might have an infection somewhere. I’m working all day tomorrow so won’t be able to get her to a doctor. Should I ring 111 again and get a second opinion?

You said your worried she has an infection, I take it you mean bacterial? Because she definitely does have an infection if she has a fever but it's a case of finding out if it's viral or bacterial. How is she in herself? A little grisly is normal with a viral infection, inconsolable is not. tired is normal, lethargic is not etc. Do you have someone you trust looking after her tomorrow if your at work? Could that person take her to the doctor if fever persists til tomorrow? (dad, grandparent, auntie) xx
