im after abit of advice. we have treated everyone in the house (family of 6) and have followed the strict hygiene rules, for what seems forever, but its only been 12 days...
Anyway, how long do i have to keep it up? i have been washing bedding, towels, cleaning every surface i can think of, basically gone ocd on cleaning. everyday for 12 days.
when is it safe to stop?
anyone have any opinions or experience? i really dont want reinfection to occur!
TIA

Re-dose everyone at two weeks has always worked for us.

buzz18 · 23/03/2018 13:14

Honestly, it will reoccur but probably not caused by home. I used to treat and then retreat at 14 days sometimes and change bedding the day after treating for the one who was infected. I might wipe the occasional door handle but that’s it. We had them a few times with Dc3 but not all the time and no more than twice a year, 3 times max ever. Apparently 30% of the child population have then at any one time so once you’re children are at nursery or school you’re stuffed! Relax about them as they’re totally harmless (if horrid!)

thanks for the replies!

yes it is horrid, i have a phobia of all things wriggly anyway. my little girl isnt fussed lol. we think the source was playschool, they had 4 more cases.
i was shocked when we saw them at nappy change time. having got 2 older boys at school and never come across them before!

We have drilled into them to wash their hands properly from on, but from what i have read, its probably inevitable it will happen again.....
just the cleaning is getting me down now!

When we had them last year I got to the point where I couldn't clean anymore and relaxed on about day 12 and it got rid of them along with 2 doses.

I'm on day 1 today of a new infestation so I'm quite envious of you! My poor washing machine is taking a battering.

buzz18 · 23/03/2018 13:33

aww, i hope it clears quickly.
i was worried the medicine wasnt going to work at first, but finally on day 5, no more worms and none since. touch wood, cross fingers and toes lol.
i think im at the stage where i can do no more cleaning, apart from the normal hoovering, clean bathrooms, change bedding very week etc....
our first bout has certainly been an experience!
