3yo lactulose

3yo has ASD and therefore quite a limited diet, he won't eat fresh fruit or veg but we do give him smoothies and dried fruit to try and atone for this.

He refuses to use a potty, to the point where he'll withhold poo to avoid it.

So every couple of weeks he becomes incredibly backed up, and gets very distressed until he's 'been'.

Last night he passed some hard stool but I could see there's still more to come, so I'm resorting to lactulose and lots of water to try and help him out. I've just given him 10ml - is this a large enough dose? I was planning on giving him another 'hit' just after dinner too.

I don't care if he goes in his pull-ups or the potty at this point, I just want him to be comfortable!

Try some syrup of fig as well as the lactulose.

I had a poo refuser, it would be held in for days then a bloody mess when it finally came, it was horrific.
I basically had to give her very loose stools so she could go without damaging herself. She needed a nappy to poo until 3 and now she’ll poo fine in a toilet/potty as she doesn’t fear the poo.

Will he eat dried mango? It’s almost like a gummy sweet, that also helped I think.
