Phlegm, straining and farting

Hey everyone,

I’m just after a little advice.

My lo is just 5 weeks old. He seems to be a very windy baby, constantly farting and he strains a lot too. Sometimes this upsets him, sometimes he’s just very loud with it but doesn’t it upset him. The wind is constant but the straining tends to be more after a bottle, before a poo or at night which seems to be all the time, it’s very upsetting to listen to and watch.

He’s also sounded really congested for about a week. I took him to the drs and he said his chest was clear but last night he was struggling to breath and when I picked him up this clear gloopy phlegm come up and he just didn’t settle again properly, also when straining hes bought the gloopy stuff up.

My questions are, as a first time Mum formula feeding, Is is normal for a baby to constantly fart and strain?

What is this gloopy stuff and is there a way I can clear it? It’s at back of throat as opposed to nose.

Thanks in advance

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Phlegm and farting sounds like it could be a dairy intolerance.

thank you BikeRunSki. I may book another drs appointment and mention this.
