Scarlet fever!

During the week I was told that there had been a few cases of Scarlet Fever at my children’s school.

DS woke up fine. We went out this morning but came home complaining that his throat hurts, he is lying around (which is VERY unlike him) and he has a slight temp. Could this be he start? I’m watching out for a rash.

Also, let’s say it was Scarlet fever. We live in a rural area. Snow is forecast tomorrow. What happens if we can’t get to see a doctor? Will he be okay to wait until Monday?

Yes it could be.
What is his tongue like?
Often that’s one of the 1st things.

Both my 2 had it a couple of months ago. We took eldest to Dr’s with sore throat and got told it was viral. She got a slight rash a few days later. It was only because DS was at Gp for rash and got diagnosed as SF that she got antibiotics (she was fine by that point)

Neither of mine were particularly ill with it but it can be nasty.

Maybe phone 111 for advice tonight if it’s not bad yet outside

We got the scarlet fever letter from school last week, it is doing the rounds apparently. It advised to keep the child home from school and to see GP for antibiotics. DS is at a SEN school with some chronically ill children so I don't know if that would make any difference with advice. I'd wait for further symptoms before ringing 111, high temp and lolling around could be the start of any viral illness. Hope he feels better soon and fingers crossed it's not scarlet fever!
