My 8 year old daughter has been diagnosed with HSP a few days ago. She had very itchy, swollen and sore ankles/feet to the point she couldnt walk. Shes still got purply bruising like rash but is now starting fade. She is now able to walk and feet/ankles not as swollen but does feel fine then tired. She also took a temp yesterday and was reseen by hospital - all ok. Her kidneys are fine at the moment but to have reqular checks at hospital for the next year to monitor any changes in this (altho i am told any permanent damage is rare). There does not seem to be much information on HSP and I wondered if anyone had experinces with it and how they managed/were supported at school and how long before they went back to school.

Hi. My dd had hsp when she was 5. Luckily it was quite a mild case and she only missed 1 day of school. They monitored her urine and bp for a few months, I can't exactly remember, but she hasn't had any recurrences, she's now almost 10. I remember it being a stressful time but much of what I read seemed an awful lot worse than what we experienced. I hope she makes a full recovery soon.
