Blood in stool

TMI
My 4 month old baby has had blood in his stool since Thursday night. It isn't a large amount but he has diarrhoea too. It's slimy and bloody and after a trip to the GP he provided him some laxatives.
On the prescription it said 15ml which is way too much for an infant ( he should only have been prescribed 2.5ml). The pharmacist refused to give him the 15ml because apparently it could have possibly been fatal. He isn't constipated at all, he's had watery nappies for a few days now. I'm not sure what to do. Has anyone else had this problem?

Did the doc advise why they were prescribing a laxative for a child with diarrhea? Totally up to you but if it were me I wouldn't give the medicine and I'd book another appointment with a different doctor for a 2nd opinion. There's been once or twice I've not given my child medicine prescribed by a doctor because I knew deep down I was being fobbed off so I've opted for 2nd opinions.

I would be also getting a second opinion. Very strange to give a laxative for a runny tummy.
I would also let them know the doze was wrong.
I would have thought they would have done a stool sample to check for infection instead.
