Staph infection?

A couple of years ago my DD 9 had a large boil on her bum cheek which was resistant to a tonne of antibiotics and creams - after many many weeks of dressings, creams and antibiotics we finally managed to get it (and its friends that also turned up) under control. The nurses at my GPs were none the wiser on what it was.

She has since had the odd spot turn up which have disappeared on their own.

End of last week she had another spot on her bum turn up which was red and angry looking with a rather nasty looking head. We did the usual cotton knickers, loose clothing etc and it looked to be under control. By Monday night it had been joined by several other spots all around her bottom.

Went GPs yesterday who advised it was an infection and prescribed Flucloxacillin. The receptionist then phoned when we left to say he wanted to see her again Thursday.

By 2:30 the school were on the phone saying she was in so much pain she couldn't sit, stand or walk. I collected her and tried to get her back into the GPs but they were shut for training.

She has a slight high temp, a sore throat and feels a little unwell but pain is being managed by calpol/ibuprofen. Have kept her home today.

Having a look online and to me it seems to point to a Staph infection - have never heard of this until today! The spots look a little less angry today but worried the antibiotic prescribed will not be as effective if this is the case. Anyone have any experience of Staph?

Could it be shingles, I know children can get them, although it's rare. It can also you feel pretty unwell.
