My baby has had diarrhoea for 5 days now - some days worse than others but today like water and very pale (sorry TMI!)

Taking her to the doctor this afternoon and they've asked for a urine sample as it may be a urine infection.

Firstly does anyone have any advice on how to get a sample from a one year old??

and I was surprised they would need this as she has diarrhoea? anyone else had this - a urine infection causing stomach probs?

thank you

My DD has to do this a few times from 9 months old. I had a lift out potty so I cleaned the potty with boiled water and dried with kitchen towel then sat her on it watching tv or reading a book and waited. Usually took 30 mins or so. It's bloody hard work. One nurse asked us to catch wee in a tiny sample thing once at hospital. She said take nappy off and be ready!! Got very wet hands....

Thank goodness DD is 10 now. Good luck!

Get a waterproof pad over your knee. Then sit there with a sterile pot and catch it. Usually they see the minute you put them down!

doctor on the phone said it so casually as if it was the easiest thing in the world...

The surgery should be able to provide a very handy thing which I don't know it's proper name but I call it the stick on wee catcher Grin it's a little bag with a stick on seal , pop
Nappy back on and it will catch a sample . Use them regularly with my DD
