DD is 5 weeks old and mostly breastfed but has some formula top ups during the day following initial high weight loss (back in track now)

We’re wauting for paediatric referral as she only poops once a week, however she’s pooped last two days in a row and tonight’s poop had these dark bits in. Do we need to see a doctor? Sad

Looks like a normal Nappy to me!

SandunesAndRainclouds · 02/03/2018 20:00

Looks normal to me too

gamerchick · 02/03/2018 20:00

I don’t see anything alarming about that nappy OP.

MistyMinge · 02/03/2018 20:02

Looks normal to me too. No reason to panic op. They can get stringy, mucousy, seedy looking bits in their poo at that age.

Whichoneisbest · 02/03/2018 20:03

Oh thank you, thank you! We’ve seen so many people about her feeding and pooping i am on edge about everything

So sorry for making you all look at baby poo on a Friday night!

Totally normal nappy

MyBoysAndI · 02/03/2018 20:16

Looks all fine to me.

My mum bottle fed my sister and l so she was horrified to see the colour of my breast fed DS happy as it was a completely different colour to what she'd been used too.

MyBoysAndI · 02/03/2018 20:17

Happy..... nappy....

TheClacksAreDown · 02/03/2018 20:23

Looks normal. Also a fully bf baby only pooing once a week is also well within the range of normal. So I doubt doctors will be overly concerned in your case.

Sweetpotatoaddict · 02/03/2018 20:28

Looks normal, they describe it as having bits like mustard seeds. Once a week pooping was also completely normal for my dd.

Pommes · 02/03/2018 20:30

Perfectly normal. One of my breastfed babies frequently had green poos!

TooMinty · 02/03/2018 20:42

Both my breastfed babies only pooed once a week. And what a poo it was Envy

Bumdishcloths · 02/03/2018 20:46

My son went 12 days without going once haha, it's alarming but normal for BF babies

Whichoneisbest · 02/03/2018 21:24

Good to hear infrequent poos can be normal! I wasn’t worried but the GP said she should be going more often as she has some formula in her diet (not much though), hence the referral. Hoping it’s nothing!

Oh OP - wait for the nappy after the first banana - your baby won't have worms - that proper freaked me out with DS1

NorthernLurker · 02/03/2018 23:23

I think your gp is overreacting.

AnaWinter · 02/03/2018 23:24

Looks totally normal Smile

Itchytights · 03/03/2018 20:41
