High platelet after flu

My ds is 5 and for a few months has been catching colds from reception every other week. I took him to the gp and they've done a blood test and said he had flu like symptoms and some sort of infection so prescribed amoxicillin. He's doing a lot better now and seems to have recovered but they still requested a second blood test because the first said everything was normal apart from high platelet at 609, second blood test 2 weeks later said platelet was at 490 also his glands on his neck haven't gone away, she said it could take up to a month

She's requesting another test in 4 weeks to make sure it keeps going down. I'm very nervous and stressed, I've googled high platelet and it's said anemia, cancer, ect Sad

Does anyone have any children who have had experience with this issue?

Not this issue but blood tests can show raised amounts of things for all sorts of reasons. The likelihood is at the next test they’ll be back to normal. He’s probably just had a run of illnesses which has run him down and starting school they catch all sorts.
