My Ds has been coughing on and off since September. He rarely gets a full blown cold, and he can go most the day without coughing, but most days when he goes in or out of a building the change of temperature makes him cough for a while. Also at night time he will have at least one very long coughing fit of around 30 mins or so most nights. Sometimes as soon as he goes to sleep, sometimes in the middle of the night, sometimes the mornings. Occasionally (every few weeks) he gets extra snotty and will cough more in the day. But it’s almost always nighttime’s. I’ve tried vics, calpol plug in, wet towels on radiator. It seems to be when he lies down. He’s not got a congested chest or breathing problems. It seems to be almost psychosomatic sometimes! A couple of times it has made him sick in his bed. I don’t know whether to go to the doctors as it’s so on and off. Anyone had a child like this? It wakes him up and he hates it at night. He’s not unhealthy but it seems like
so long now.

Sounds like he could have mild asthma triggered by winter? My ds has been coughing on and off since December and its dry and can last for an hour straight then he won't cough anymore the whole day or the next then he'll start up again. It's been very stressful and we are losing sleep getting up in the middle of the night or around 5am to get water, fill up humidifier, apply Vicks on ect Confused
