My 2yr 9mth old has always opened his bowels frequently. He usually goes 5/6 times a day, once first thing, then 3 during the middle of the day, often over 2 hours or so. Then he can do another 1 or 2 later on. In the last few months, we are now getting 1 or 2 overnight to which he doesn't wake.
Until the overnight ones started I wasn't concerned as my other son was 4-6 a day and still at age 5 can do 3 a day.
He will have the odd day, maybe once a week where he doesn't poo, or only once or twice. These are the exception however.
As a result of the above, he suffers terrible nappy rash. I've finally found a good treatment in connotrane cream. But I can not prevent it. He has had nappy rash more than he hasn't. The night time poo is definitely effecting this, and is the cause of the current reoccurring nappy rash.
His bottom is constantly being cleaned and wiped. When he has the days of less or no poo, his bottom starts to recover. But then the next day it's back to square one.
I've tried all the different wipes and nappies, it males zero difference. Tried all the creams, all the alternative remedies.
The problem is his frequent poo, particularly night time poo. I've just come to bed, and he had pooed, so I've changed him. He may well do another before I'm up at 6. He won't wake though.
I am going to visit the GO about it now. But in the meanwhile is this familiar to anyone else? Is it normal? Or sign of a problem?
His diet is very good. He loves all food. He does eat a lot in my opinion, as he eats the same quantities as his 5 year old brother. I've noticed that as the day goes on he gets a little pot belly, and seems swollen by the end of the day. He is never in pain though and has no other health problems.
I've googled and not found any help....
