Toddler Fracture

Hello, was hoping for advice from someone who has experience of this.DD hurt her leg last week and couldn't put weight on it, so I took her to a&e for x-ray. It showed no fractures, but they said it could be that she had one, and it would show up later and to come back in a week for another x-ray. The appointment's tomorrow and DD is now walking with just a slight limp, and seems normal apart from trouble climbing into carseat and did wake up crying last night saying it hurt. I am assuming she would not be able to walk about if it was fractured though? I am wondering whether to cancel it, as seems a waste of an appointment, plus might be difficult to get too, as snow round here, and will no doubt be very icy tomorrow. Does anyone with experience of this have an opinion of whether they think a fracture could still be possible?! Thanks

Same thing happened to us.

DD fell over. Refused to put weight on leg. Wasn’t in pain though, just stopped walking.

Not unusual for her, she reacted badly to any falls.

After a week, still not bearing weight, we went to GP, then A&E.

They suspected fracture, but x ray didn’t show.

They said it might be so small to not even show up. After a couple more weeks she started bearing weight again.

(As an aside, SS were called BEFORE doctor had assessed DD because we took over a week to get her seen. Apparently toddler tibia fractures are common in abuse)

The question is, would the treatment be any different if the x ray did show? In our case, not.
