Dd (12) has just shown me this rash on her chest. It looks like she has clawed at herself but says she hasn't. She said it's itchy and hurts. Not surprised, it looks sore bless her. Any ideas. Her breasts are developing - could this be hormonal?

That image is worrying, I’d take her to a doctor.

NaiceToMeetYou · 26/02/2018 21:19

Gosh that looks sore. I'm no expert but I'd definitely say that's been caused by friction or something, they seem pretty uniformed. Have you checked her clothing etc. Has she been doing an activity that could have caused them?

GColdtimer · 26/02/2018 21:21

It's totally bizarre. She has had the clothes she had on all day. She was watching tv and dancing around as normal. She said she scratched it but surely scratching wouldn't have caused that.

I am at a loss. Our minor injuries/our of hours is open until 10. Wondering if I should pop her up there.

Bless her you had def see the scratch marks.
Could it be that she us finding developing itchy?
Can you give her some piriton and out some cream on? Savlon or something?

NaiceToMeetYou · 26/02/2018 21:22

I would op. Is she ok in herself?

NaiceToMeetYou · 26/02/2018 21:23

It looks like scratches actually, if you look around the deep red marks.

GColdtimer · 26/02/2018 21:24

Have given her Puritan but don't want to put anything g on it to make it worse. She is ok but panicking (quite a stress head!).

Have you done the glass test on it?

GColdtimer · 26/02/2018 21:25

Will do Glass test too. But agree you can see scratches. Am wondering if she us findingvdeveloping itchy too.

Lizardtheblizzard · 26/02/2018 21:28

They’re not scratches, they’re burst blood vessels under the surface. The fact that they’re in a cross pattern makes me wonder if she’s been wearing a tight harness or similar, or has been playing being tied up somehow.

LIZS · 26/02/2018 21:28

Shingles?

Lizardtheblizzard · 26/02/2018 21:29

They will probably itch and sting, hence the scratches.

Bloomed · 26/02/2018 21:30

I'd get it checked. Could be a reaction

GColdtimer · 26/02/2018 21:31

Ok. Didn't disappear. That's not good. Im off to minor injuries.

agree with PP it does look like an irritant causes dermatitis especially given the symmetrical nature of it.

If she is developing then it might mean that the clothes sit in a different way and therefore irritate, even if they haven't done previously.

Piriton is good. Also just wash the area with tepid water (just to remove any traces of irritant and put on a big comfy spacious top. A very gentle moisturiser or lotion designed for sensitive skin (E45, centraban etc).

GColdtimer · 26/02/2018 21:32

Lizard she has been with me all evening. No harness or playing being tied up

OP posts:
dantdmistedious · 26/02/2018 21:32

I'd take her too. Hope she's ok.

It looks like burst blood vessels to me too.

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 26/02/2018 21:34

Any problems with peers, friends or siblings, or, at school?

OP look at the pattern. Does she wear a bra? That cross pattern is like the back of a extremely tight bra. Incidentally this could have happened hours if not days ago as these marks take some time to come out.

I’d put money on her being tied or restrained in some way, or something being pulled across her skin very tight.

Has she been to the park? If she was on a swing and was crossing the ropes/chains, she would have a similar pattern.

italiancortado · 26/02/2018 21:42

I would also take her.

Thingvellir · 26/02/2018 21:45

It looks - bit like like the excema DD gets, but the symmetrical cross shape is really worrying. Something has chafed her skin (and she's had a good itch at it as well judging by all the fingernail scratches around)

I'd be straight to a dr to have it checked, as you said you are, hope it goes ok

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 26/02/2018 21:47

Are you aware of any problems with peers, friends or siblings?
Problems at school?
New pet?
Change of washing detergent, shower gel etc.?
Sport?
Doesn't look like meningitis. If you're worried, get it checked

bobstersmum · 26/02/2018 21:59

Looks like friction of some sort, hope she's ok

GColdtimer · 26/02/2018 22:03

Ffs. She hasn't been tied up or restrained. She is perfectly happy at school. No change of washing powder.

Been in phone to 111 and have an app at out of hours in 10 mins so we are going now. She now has a blinding headache.

Thanks to those who have been helpful.
