Dd (12) has just shown me this rash on her chest. It looks like she has clawed at herself but says she hasn't. She said it's itchy and hurts. Not surprised, it looks sore bless her. Any ideas. Her breasts are developing - could this be hormonal?

No need for “ffs”! How rude! You post a picture that looks like retrain Marks and then complain when told they look like restrain marks!

MummySparkle · 26/02/2018 22:09

Op you are doing the right thing, I'm glad OOH are seeing her quickly. My first thought is they look a bit like suction marks, but that wouldn't make sense with the itchiness or the headache.

I hope OOH can give you some answers. Flowers

Foodylicious · 26/02/2018 22:14

Hope your appt goes well Flowers

Lisette40 · 26/02/2018 22:17

Mindhunter · 26/02/2018 22:20

Hope it goes ok.

Notsooriginalwerther · 26/02/2018 22:20

This probably won’t be it st all but to me it looks like when you give someone a love bite? Because if the broken blood vessels, or if you put the nozzle of a hoover or handheld hoover into your skin for too long. Good job you’re taking her to out of hours though OP as whatever it may be they’ll be the ones to solve it :) good luck, I hope she’s alright.

ThatsWotSheSaid · 26/02/2018 22:21

The op is stressed out understandably and people are repeating the same thing without reading the reply.
Hope everything is okay OP

You came on to a public forum asking for advice - people posting are trying to be helpful.
"She is perfectly happy at school". My daughter got bullied at school for months - I only found out when the Headmistress escorted her home.
My daughter also had meningitis - which is why I stated it didn't look like that.
Hope your daughter is ok.

Excitedforxmas · 26/02/2018 22:29

Looks like an over itched itch !

upsideup · 26/02/2018 22:32

My dd10 had similar a few weeks ago, there was one of those thick frayed plasticy tightropes that you have in kids parks that she kind of led down with her chest against and swang back and forth, so as well as the pressure there was a rubbing that kind of left her with friction burns. I think the fact her breasts are developing also meant the skin was paticularly delicate and tender so any kind up rubbing or pressure made more of a mark. It didnt fully develop for a few days and was sore and itchy but sudocrem and wearing loose clothing cleared in up with in a week.
I hope she is okay Op, you are definately doing the right thing getting her seen to.

Ivebeenaroundtheblock · 26/02/2018 22:33

The pattern is too distinctive to be illness related. They are rub marks, skin burns of sorts from something tight and rubbing.

retirednow · 26/02/2018 22:33

Hope she is okFlowers

Tattybogle89 · 26/02/2018 22:43

Definitely looks friction related and may not have been from today. Keep us updated bough and I hope she is alright

LoveProsecco · 26/02/2018 22:55

Hope everything was ok when checked out Thanks

Stormwhale · 26/02/2018 22:57

Hope she is ok op. How worrying for you Sad

GColdtimer · 26/02/2018 23:00

Doctor said it was a skin infection. Luckily made it to the late night pharmacy and she already has had a dose and is tucked up in bed. Doctors advice was to leave it alone and if worse in 24 hours or if she develops a temp to go back to GP or OOH. She doesn't know what caused it, just one of those things.

Thanks for your concern everyone. I'm sorry if I was snappy but the way some posts were worded were a bit Hmm. Lizard, saying to the mother of a 12 year old (who I have been with non stop since Friday) "I’d put money on her being tied or restrained in some way" is quite shocking. Otters sorry about your DD. I didn't mean to be dismissive, my dd used to be terribly unhappy but is now at a new school and absolutely loves it. After going through 6 years of unhappiness I know when she is happy. I was typing quickly as I was worried.

Thank you everyone, all is fine! Well apart from poor dd being uncomfortable but we can deal with that.

I’d still be checking over her bra swim trunks and back pack.

GColdtimer · 26/02/2018 23:04

I will be. As a pp said she clearly had a good scratch which made it worse so I will be keeping a close eye. The welts have gone but the rash is all over her chest and around the top of her breasts now. It's hot to touch. Dr said it wouldn't go quickly.

Haggisfish · 26/02/2018 23:06

Poor dd. Hope it gets better quickly.

LemonysSnicket · 26/02/2018 23:12

Eczema and extreme scratching?

GColdtimer · 26/02/2018 23:15

Doctor didn't think so lemon. She was pretty certain skin infection.

OP posts:
MrMeSeeks · 26/02/2018 23:20

I used to get similar from scratching.

MummySparkle · 26/02/2018 23:22

Poor soul. I had a reaction to antibiotics last week and came out in a rash which was worst on my stomach & boobs. It took a good 5 days to stop itching and has just started peeling like sunburn now. I hope the antibiotics make a good start at her feeling better overnight.

GColdtimer · 27/02/2018 07:27

This is it this morning. So quite different.

I think they only meant tied up or restrained as part of playground play? Nothing sinister! We used to play horses and tie scarves and alsorts round each other shouting giddy up!
Glad she's been seen and is OK.
