Can Amoxicillin affect Blood Test?

my DS has been ill on and off for 6 weeks with viral infections and flu, as a result hes had swollen neck glands for about 4-5 weeks now, the dr says hes not concerned as its normal for it to swell when we get a cold. however to give me peace of mind they schedualed a blood test and started him on a course of amoxicillin just because they were 100% positive it was viral and not bacterial. (he had fevers for 4 days).

He had a blood test done the day after he started amoxiciilin and now today ive called in to see what the results were and she said the doctor is requesting a second blood test to be taken in two weeks time for monitoring reasons. she also told me not to worry. (fat chance) I dont understand why the doctor wouldnt tell me this himself instead of leaving it up to a vague receptionist.

has this happened to anyone else? can amoxicillin alter a blood test?

Also i think it was a bacterial infection he had because he's done with his amoxicillin now and he's 100% better. although his glands are still swollen. they do look a bit smaller.
