Any doctors on here?

First of all let me say I fully intend to take my daughter to see a doctor about this.

My baby is only 11 months old and has a large haemangioma on the side of her neck. She was on medication for a time to manage it because it ulcerated and started to cause her problems. After a time her doctor was happy to take her off the medication. The birthmark was still there but has regressed to a point where it was no longer causing problems.

However... a few weeks ago when looking at her neck I thought it looked like her neck had swollen in the area of the birthmark (not just the red skin but the skin in the immediate vicinity). There is a definite swelling. I have looked at the other side of her neck and I don't think It's swollen - certainly not to the same degree as the side with the birth mark.

This weekend it has become apparent that it's not my imagination and that there is a definite swelling in her neck. To be frank I am beside myself with worry. I admit I am probably hyper sensitive to any possibility of her having something wrong with her because she's already been through two very serious illnesses from which she thankfully made a full recovery.

I'm hoping to get her to see a doctor in the next few days but I've already googled neck swelling and it's come up with some really frightening illnesses which it could be.

Does anyone have any experience of haemangiomas in the neck and is it normal for the skin beneath to swell in the way I described?

Thanks. My partner took her to the GP today who could feel swelling on both sides of her neck. She called and spoke to paediatricians at the local hospital and according to my DH they told the GP they aren't concerned but to contact the consultant who she saw about her birth mark. He's going to call me this week apparently. How can they (the paediatricians) say they aren't concerned if they don't know the cause of the swelling?

She was such a cutie today and seemed happy enough in herself but I can't seem to stop worrying about this
