To take DS5 to A&E?

My DS went off his food last weekend, culminating to a sudden 40.0 temp on Monday evening, looking really ill but gone over night.

Since Monday random high temps - once over night, nothing yesterday, woke up hot this morning and complaining his legs were hurting.

On Monday GP said likely virus but if went downhill to take to A&E. He’s perky in himself, he has had a small beaker of milk but no food. Very little food this weekend. Would you take him to Children’s A&E?

Phone 111 and see what they say? Hope he is on the mend soon

How old is he and how hot is hot? Does he seem unwell? are you worried right now?

If you are thinking of taking him in how about calling 111 first?

If he’s perky in himself I’d probably go back to doctors. It’s only been a few days since Monday, and virus’ can last a while.

If the doctor is sufficiently concerned he will refer you immediately to hospital and you avoid sitting around in a&e waiting room.

Take him back to the GP? If it is a virus it needs time to leave his body so he needs rest and fuilds.

It doesn’t sound from your post like his condition has deteriorated? So it doesn’t sound like he needs a and e

No, not A&E as it's not an accident nor an emergency. You said he's perky in himself which is a good sign but I would take him back to the doctors if you're still worried.

It seems strange that the GP suggested A&E unless he meant overnight when there's no access to GPs??

Thanks all. On Monday when we saw GP he was 39+ with Calpol and looked ill which is why GP said keep an eye on him and if he gets worse take him to A&E straight away.

It’s the legs hurting that is worrying me, and the random temperatures.
