UTI in toddler

Dd has had really smelly wee the past few days and is soaking her nappies faster than usual but is not drinking any more than usual. She’s not dehydrated as she drinks quite a lot throughout the day.
I noticed today that she was grabbing down there quite a lot so coupled with the smelly wee does that sound like a UTI?
I will ring the GP for an appt tomorrow anyway but just wanted to also ask if it sounds like a UTI how do you collect a sample if they’re still in nappies?

It does sound like a UTI. nHS website has somesuggestions for how to collect a sample.

The GP may give you a sample bag that has a sticky edge to stick on her, or an absorbent pad that they can use a syringe to get a sample out of.

Stick some cotton wool in her nappy then squeeze it out into a test pot. It’s noun

Sorry - not clean catch but it’s the easiest way of getting a sample

I have held my little girl over a large jug when she first woke up to catch some wee- not ideal but it worked.

I used boiling water on the jug first and had a sample bottle left from when I was pregnant.
