Coughing

Anybody awake?
My poor 14 month old DS has bad cough (he's had a cold for a couple of days and I think it is dripping down his throat) and just cant sleep. He's been coughing nonstop since 10pm and I just don't know how to help him... he gets very upset as I can see he wants to sleep but then starts these coughing fits and wakes again. I tried cuddles and warm milk, some water... not sure what else might work. Any more experienced mums out there with tips? I feel so bad for him and it's so frustrating not knowing what to do... no fever or other symptoms. It's the first night that it's that bad. thanks in advance

Does it sound croupy? (Like a seal) if so an open window helps and give ooh a ring, I think the latest advice suggests dc should be given steroids for croup.

Ah thanks @Gunpowder I didn't know that. But no, he doesn't sound croupy (at least yet). I will keep in mind... he managed to sleep a few hours in the end, poor baby. I hope tonight is better!
