Constipation and Movicol

Hello,

I have read a lot of threads on mumsnet about what we are going through but no one seems to post how to get over it!

My 3.5 year old has been constipated since we potty trained her a year ago. She withholds her poo which leads to impaction and many dirty dirty pants. We have been to the paediatrician who prescribed Movicol. We started with the clear out and are now on 1 sachet a day. The problem is she now poos daily thanks to the movicol and it’s like she has no idea it’s coming, it just arrives and she looks surprised and says she did a poo in her pants. It’s great that she’s not constipated but she is completely potty trained with pees so how can I train her with poos?
Any advice or success stories would be wonderful. I am going slightly mad with all the dirty pants.

Thank you

Yes but the moviolas is making her poo so so runny and she’s doing a lot each day. Should I carry on with the movicol? Surely it’s too strong?
