Circumcision at 13 years - THIS THURSDAY... ADVICE PLEASE...

Hi there

My son is due to be circumcised this week, we found out about a cancellation slot only today.

He is 13 and it's for medical reasons. We had our consultants meeting and the assessment, the docs advice was that his foreskin hadn't developed at all and now isn't likely to as he is massive (nearly 6ft at 13 years)

We tried some steroid cream which didn't work and are now looking at the op on Thursday.

Does anyone have any advice for us?

Thanks

Baggy trousers and adequate dressings. Strict adherance to post op instructions and take the painkillers regularly.
Dont hesitate to go back to the ward if he is at all worried. He may be embarrassed to let anybody check it so you need to impress upon him to ask for help if it doesnt seem to be healing.

YY to strict adherence to post op instructions. Warm salty baths are good if dressings get stuck on, and for general healing. It will be sore but he'll be fine when it heals.

Hi, my ds who is 4 has had it done today for medical reasons.
He was fine for the first 6 hours, but is now laying naked with his legs spread.
It’s the swelling I think that we have been shocked with.
Make sure you have lots of pain relief and comfy baggy trousers.
