Waking himself up straining and crying

My 7 week old has suddenly started being awake from midnight onwards seeming to strain. He’s making a lot of grunting and crying noises and it’s completely stopping him sleeping. He’s doing roughly one soft poo per day. I’ve seen a few posts saying babies do this whilst asleep but ours is definitely not asleep and he’s not very good at daytime naps either so permanently grouchy and tired. I wind him regularly during feeding (mixture of bottles and breast on advice of a doc) and always get some wind up. Anyone got any advice?

Is he otherwise well in himself? My DS was grunting when he had bronchiolitis

I think so. He sounds a little snotty but the doctor last week said that was part of reflux. He’s on ranitidine for reflux but otherwise ok. Hope your boy recovered well from his bronchiolites.
