Ds shut his finger in the stair gate on Sunday. He's 8 btw. We have the gate for our toddler.
Looked fine until this afternoon. Now looks like this. GP? Can it wait until tomorrow?? I have an appointment myself in the morning but could take him in the afternoon. He is currently soaking it in warm salt water.

How is your son in himself? Any fever?

Use a marker to draw where the redness ends. If the red area expands quickly then you may want to ring 111 or go to minor injuries.

He's fine but it has come up all of a sudden.
No temp or anything. Will keep an eye on redness and swelling.
It's always something!

This needs antibiotics and if it doesn't improve or gets worse, small injuries unit. DS had a similar injury that did not respond to antibiotics and he had to have it drained at a clinic. He was only 2yo but they gave him gas and air and it was fine.

I had something similar called a
Paronychia I think? It didn’t respond to antibiotics, had it drained and dressed at local minor injuries unit. Took 5 minutes.
