My 10 day old has got conjunctivitis and a slight cough. Makes me wonder how a newborn can already be poorly. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Yes. Initially I used the good old wive's remedy of breast milk but then went to GP and cleared with antibiotics.

I would get it checked seeing as they are so young.

Lots of newborns get sticky eyes etc. They’ve just come into contact with germs, especially when you’ve got older children. Are you breastfeeding? Squirt milk onto the eyes and it will probably clear it up.

Just seen the cross posts - breast milk did clear it up for mine, no need for AB’s

A routine baby illness however I was told to visit the gp for any illness at all in a baby under 3 months.

are you sure it's conjunctivitis and not just blocked tear ducts? which are very common in babies.
bathe with cooled boiled water and the breast milk thing really does work
