Earache with no other symptoms?

DS11 is complaining of earache - started on Friday, and today has needed painkilllers every four hours.

He has no other symptoms - mouth and throat fine, no temperature, a bit sleepy and teary but that’s not unusual as he is a drama queen at times.

He does have a history of ear issues, though, and has had two sets of grommets. I’m going to take him to the doctors tomorrow but I hate going - I always feel like I’m wasting the GPs time.

What could it be with no other symptoms?

Infection? Iused to get them loads: earache and no other sympton, like your ds, had grommets, even now in really cold weather I need to pull a wolly hat over my ears or they can start to hurt Sad

Sympathy for your ds, earache is really unpleasant, I can remember GP often saying I had a 'mild' infection and,I used to think if this is what a mild infection feels like what is a bad infection like??

Back in the day I used to drizzle warm olive oil in my ear to calm the pain, was a big help.

Disclaimer: I'mnot a medical sort of person and don't want people to tryit out!

I've got an ear infection at the moment, it's so painful like a dull ache and a stabbing pain. Feel like my ear is about to explode and I've lost some hearing in it. I got put on Amoxicillin and olive oil drops. The doctor said there's lots of ear infections going round.
