DD's periods

My dad (13) has recently started her periods. The first one was really heavy and now 6 weeks later she just started her second one. I got a call from school this morning saying she been throwing up. She been flopped on sofa. I had really trouble free periods so not got experience of this. Is it quite common to have these symptoms?

I was like that as a teen. I’d be bed bound by a period a couple of times a year. Feminax and Lucozade really helped!

Yep, my family are cursed with them. I’ve been on birth control since I was 14 which all but stops them, thank god. My DM had years of 2-3 days a month where she was pretty much bedbound. Hot water bottle, all the drugs.

I would see if it settles down over the next couple if months & then make a GP appointment. Perhaps when her cycle becomes more regular they will become less horrible. In the mean time pain relief & tlc. 😉

Sounds like me. I remember being sent home from school at least twice and one of those times I had vomited. I remember really vividly the intense pain. I’d be rolling round my bed unable to do anything to stop the pain. I started mine when I was 11 and went on the pill when I was 18 because as well as being painful they became irregular. Your poor DD. Maybe a nice cup of tea and a long hot bubble bath could help Flowers

This sounds like my youngest DD. She takes mefanamic acid and its helped her so much. The Dr wanted to put her on the pill but I said I was against her needing to take tablets all through the month when she can just take some at the beginning of her period. Touch wood she has been on these tablets for 2 years and so far so good. She did try and not take tablets a couple of months ago and was violently sick.

Thanks for all your replies... the cramps have settled with paracetamol and she's had a nice bath and hot choc. I wondering if she's low on iron? Good idea to see if it settles - poor thing
