Developing a cough whilst on amoxicillin

My 9 year old boy had an earache for 2 weeks, because he wasn’t complaining too much I didn’t take him to the doctors straight away because I knew they’d say something like it’s a virus come back if it gets worse. So over the last weekend he got a high fever so I decided to take him to the drs and she diagnosed him with a bad ear infection and gave him amoxicillian but only to take if symptoms worsen. They did so we started them the same day as he’d already had an earache for 2 weeks. By wednsday he was already peaking up and he told us his ear had stopped hurting and generally was better in himself. But yesterday evening a vicious cough has delveloped which seems really bad today. Anyone else had a situation similar. He’d had a cough 2 weeks ago which lasted about 3 days. I didn’t think he would get a cough being on antibiotics ☹️

Its probably viral. Antibiotics don't affect viruses. Unfortunately he'll have to ride it out. Hope he gets well soon.

Thank you, he doesn’t have fever but too scared to eat in case he is sick due to the coughing. He’s a typical man feeling sorry for himself, told him he need to fight it coz he is 10 in 2 weeks so needs to be better for his party. To be fair Whatever the virus is it’s been doing the rounds in the house.

Oh poor love :( maybe just tiny amounts of things that are easy to eat and digest for now, even just smoothies and ice lollies.
