Hi, I'm looking for some advice.
A little background info - dd (2) started potty training about 6 weeks ago. We got her some underwear and the very first day they seemed slightly ill fitting, riding up her bum one side, and I could see she was itching in a couple of places. The next day she had red rash where the tiny frilled edging had been itching her. A lot like nappy rash but higher up just on the apples of her cheeks. I binned the knickers. I tried some other ones in different sizes, including very simple boys underwear (no frills around edges) but same issue. (100% cotton which she wears in other clothes btw) Her bum has been rashy ever since, it gets bad then dies down, then flares up again.
Then a rash appeared at the back of her knees a few weeks ago. That's now cleared up however.
Then 2 weeks ago the palms of her hands looked slightly red. In the past few days it's gotten worse on one palm.
We've used no new products. At first I thought it was an allergy to underwear but she hasn't worn it in weeks now. And could that really affect her palms? I don't know but whenever I put underwear on her it really irritates her bum. At home she has been wearing winter type dresses with nothing on underneath because I don't know what else to do! (She is still in a pull up on walks or car journeys, soft play etc)
I showed a family member who didn't seem to think it was eczema but I'm not so sure. I don't know how or why it's been triggered, it does seem a coincidence with the underwear but I don't feel she's actually allergic to the materials? I have no experience of eczema, only what I've seen on google.
I am attaching pictures but please note I had to use the flash as it's so dark here today, so it looks brighter red than it actually is.
Also should I be going to the gp with it or will I be wasting their time?
Thank you for any advice.
