So my dd (4 at Xmas) has come out in a rash on her face. All round her mouth, nose and cheeks.
Assumed it was where her snot has been drying on her skin as she's so snotty right now. Been there since Thurs last week but seems to clear up over night and then worsen during the day.
Anyway, this morning it seemed bad. Aggressive looking so off the the gp. Father in law took her as we had to be at work.
First doc looked and said impetigo but wanted another opinion.
Older doc came in and said impetigo but then in laws mentioned the little spots that have appeared inside her elbow.
Older doc then said chicken pox. Well she had pox in May and I know they can get them again, but everyone at nursery has already had it (in May) and doesn't seem to be an outbreak there and she hasn't been anywhere to have caught it from when I would have expected due to the incubation period.
I know that impetigo can cause things on the arms and legs too and I'm concerned that being diagnosed with pox means she won't get any meds, and if it turns out not to be pox, we won't know until the weekend (when I would expect them to scab over) at which point she will need something for the impetigo which can take much longer to go away.
Plus it'll be contagious for longer.
Any ideas? Can I buy any cream that won't aggravate the pox but would start to get rid of the impetigo if the docs have it wrong?
It looks very different to when she had pox in May so I just don't know.
She's already going to miss her nursery Xmas concert, postpone her birthday party and cancel Cinderella pantomime. And we are due to visit family next week for our Xmas and her birthday but I'd shes contagious with impetigo we'll have to change out plans as dsis has 2 little ones (theyve both had pox)
Help!!
