12 month old terrible cough and cold

Hey I was just wondering if anyone's had/has a baby with a chesty cough and a cold. I've been to the doctor and he said it was common and just to keep on with the calpol.

It's so horrible to see her like this, she's a lot better than she was 2 days ago but now her nose is running and when she coughs you can see she's struggling to get the Mucus off her chest.

This is the first proper time she's ever been poorly and half the time I feel like I'm doing such a crap job because I don't know how to handle it. Plus I've got what she has now too so I feel rubbish as well.
I panic when she coughs hard trying to get it off her chest.

How long will this last?

Take her back. You get ‘it’s a virus’ the first time most times - if you go back they take you a bit more seriously. It’s been going on a few days and might have changed and gone into her chest. I’d have someone listen to her chest again tomorrow if it was my child just in case.

Can last up to two weeks...some things that can help. Onion...cut and in room (dispose of next day) not eucalyptus for under tens but lemon oil or spruce or pine essential oil diffused or on tissue. Steamy room for a bit. Massaging chest with carrier oil...lots of pressure points in ribs bit gentle pressure. Lemon and honey drink. Vitamin c ...liposomal or sodium absorbate :)
