Pain left abdomen under rib (ish)

My ds (11) has a stabbing pain under rib/ higher abdomen. It has been going on about 3 weeks and makes him wince. Just before it started he had a red eye which took 10 days to clear up (no crustiness but told viral conjunctivitis) Appetite vastly decreased and not sleeping well. Been to Dr's once and will go back. No temp, blood pressure fine and urine fine. Said might be lymph nodes.
Getting quite worried now, anyone's child had anything similar? He's not a whingey child and hardly ever ill.

Pleuritic? Might be worth another visit to gp. Could he have broken a rib?

Theworldisfullofidiots · 29/11/2017 21:33

Gp tomorrow. Really at a loss. Pain is getting worse during the day but slightly better this eve. He says its 9/10 but can't be because he's coping. But he is wincing every time its stabbing. At one point he was doubled over.
No temperature, no sickness.
Plays rugby but wouldn't of thought broken rib. Surely we would have noticed?

Waiting for blood tests. So hoping it's one of those things that miraculously just get better.

Blood tests normal. Yeah!
Might be reflux which he had a few years ago and lost his voice. Also think he had it as a baby.
So gaviscon for now. And If no better or lasting improvement then scans.

So....been back again. Nothing is touching it. Been given different meds and being referred to a paediatrician. If pain really bad told to go to a&e. As in he can't function at all. Does anyone have any ideas? GPs flumoxed. (seen 3 different ones now over a course of six weeks).

Is it improving at all? Is he having to take pain relief?

Theworldisfullofidiots · 14/12/2017 16:14

No no improvement. Now getting headaches but I think thats because he is not getting much sleep. Been prescribed bucospan now.
Quite worried now. He's having an awful time, poor thing. And he's usually never ill. Managing to stay in school just but I know he's classmates are irritated by him. As he makes an ouch sound as he involuntarily winces about every 12 seconds.
It's a bit of pain being Christmas as it will slow everything down.
