Recurrent ear infections!

Looking for some advice, my 13 month old son ha recurrent ear infections. Since he’s been 6 months old he’s had 8 amounts of antibiotics.
We’ve been to see ear nose and throat specialist and they will see him in 6 months when either his tube will be a bit bigger and they’ll be better or there’ll be no improvement and they’ll consider gromits.
Does anyone have any tips? Or remedies to help him at all?
Just feel so powerless!
Heeelp!

Ds was like this. Every 2 weeks from 10 weeks old until he was 20 months when they put grommets in.

8 in 7 months doesn't sound too bad though Grin Ds had 8 burst ear drums in 2 months at one point. But I think that, if it continues is probably bad enough for intervention.

Hi
Thanks for your message. Have you found the gromits have helped then? He’s had 8 lots of antibiotics but more infections they haven’t treated with anything- just don’t know what to do for the best, we keep his ears completely dry and he wears a hat outside.
Did you find the antibiotics helped? Our specialist has said they don’t but to take him every time he has one so it’s documented. He’s starting again with one now 😩
Xx

Has he had the Pneumococcal vaccine? It can be helpful for preventing ear infections. Helped with my ds. It's my understanding that the antibiotics shorten slightly the length of the infection, so not always necessary. However in my ds' case, he had some pretty vicious side effects from the ear infection (fevers of 105 and perforated eardrum), so was given antibiotics every time. He eventually grew out of them.

Hi,
Aw these poor babies. :-(
Yes he’s had all his vaccinations, I’m hoping when he gets bigger so will his tubes and ease the pressure. That’s some temperature, he has a temp but manageable with calpol/ neurofen.
We’ve had liquid coming out of his ear a couple of times but not every time....
thanks gives me hope that in time they’ll ease off xx
