Can I double check with you whether DS should see nurse/GP or someone else?
Had a cold for a few days. Woke up with marked retractions. Has used brown and blue inhalers but still wheezing, coughing and retractions when sitting. Seems fairy chirpy and says he is ok...

I think I would definitely take him to gp to have a listen to his chest and check him over. Hope he gets well soon Smile

My son has very bad asthma and the advice we have always been given is if after the blue inhaler he is no better (so still retracting) or the blue inhaler doesn't last longer than 4 hours than he needs to be seen.

I would definitely get him checked as asthma can change very quickly

Trust your instincts and get him seen op Flowers

I think he is so delighted at having scored a day off school - and being allowed to watch cartoons - that the chirpyness is probably a bit misleading Grin. I will try and get him an appointment. Thanks very much all.

Deffo get him seen if he has chest recession. His chirpyness will prob be a misleading sign as blue inhaler can make them buzz. It’s not the real sign. The true sign is his chest.
Let us know how he gets on x

Explain the situation to your surgery - we've always been seen the same day.

Definitely nurse or doctor, it won't hurt and they don't seem to mind to even put your mind at rest for things like asthma as kids can go downhill quickly.

Ds has a bit of a cough and wheezing but was happy enough. I took him down yesterday as he ended up on steroids and antibiotics last month, got an appointment an hour after ringing. Packed off from the gp with a bag full of inhalers and drugs. His cough is worse today but hoping the fact I've started him already on meds will help.

Hope your ds gets better soon.
