How tall are your 6 year old daughters?

How tall are your 6 year old daughters? The reason I ask this question is because during the past couple of weeks, i've noticed stretch marks on the upper thighs of my daughter -she's almost 6 yrs old. Not overweight, but very tall for her age. Currently 124.5cm. I'm 6 feet tall, and her brother is very tall, and has a couple of stretch marks on his lower back (not overweight in the slightest). Should I be concerned about the stretch marks? How do I make them stop? Even though she's not overweight, should I cut back on meals for her, even though I think the stretch marks are a result of her growing in height? Would that help? She's a size 9-10 in clothing largely because of height. I had stretch marks growing up, but mainly because of weight. I want to spare her from going through the embarrassment of not being able to wear what she wants because of stretch marks.

Mine’s 124 too.

Rotorevolution · 13/11/2017 12:07

How much does she weigh? I wouldn't cut bck on food unless she is tall due to being overweight which sounds unlikely here.

HeyRoly · 13/11/2017 12:09

You're seriously thinking of putting her on a diet even though you know she's shooting up in height, not weight?

FWIW my DD is 6y2m and is 122cm.

Iris2017 · 13/11/2017 12:18

HeyRoly I asked a question. Take your fucking judgment elsewhere.

Please dont slate HeyRoly she has a point.

Even though she's not overweight, should I cut back on meals for her

HeyRoly · 13/11/2017 15:54

I'm not slating, I just can't understand the rationale at all. Not to mention how awful it would be for the child to have her portion sizes cut and notice it; ask for more food and be refused.

So feel free to explain why cutting this child's food intake might be a good idea, and I'll concede that my tone was unnecessarily appalled.

How much does she weigh?

My 6 year old is around 128cm but she's closer to 7

NotCitrus · 13/11/2017 16:26

Dd is nearly 6 and 123 cm. Weight on the 50% percentile. She's tall but not usually so.

FuckingDiet · 13/11/2017 16:28

My dd2 is 6 tomorrow she is 112cm, about average for her age I think. Wears age 5-6 clothes.

BlackInk · 13/11/2017 16:53

My almost-6-year-old daughter is about 124 cm tall and in age 5 to 6 clothing. She's one of the taller girls in her class, but not the tallest. WHO charts put her around 90% for height, so not dramatically tall. I'm afraid that a 6 year old in age 9 to 10 clothing and around the same height must be quite overweight? Not saying this to be harsh, not at all.

RidiculousDiversion · 13/11/2017 16:57

My 6yo is 120cm - seems below average for her Y2 class. She's wearing 6-7 bottoms/dressed for leg length, still 5-6 or even 4-5 in tops.

user71017 · 13/11/2017 20:52

7.5 and 128cm

Gileswithachainsaw · 13/11/2017 20:56

6 but very nearly 7 and she's 120cm

Wearing anything from 4-5 -6-7 depending on what it is.

ijustwannadance · 13/11/2017 20:59

Mine is 129cm and wears 8-9 year clothes.
6.5
Always been tall.

Wtfdoipick · 13/11/2017 21:06

Dd has just turned 6 and is 129cm, she's only just started wearing 7/8 size clothing. What weight is your dd?

Muddlingalongalone · 13/11/2017 21:17

Dd1 is 6.7 and around 132cm and wears a mix of 7-8, 8-9 or 9-10 clothing - usually bigger skirts and dresses so that they aren't indecent lengthwise.
She is a bit overweight too so I am trying to make sure she's doing a lot of sport and eating healthily without making a big issue of it. I haven't noticed any stretch marks on her though.

OwlKiss · 13/11/2017 21:27

I'm quite impressed that everyone knows how tall their children are - I don't know exactly how tall mine is, but I would have guessed roughly around 120 -125 cm. She wears some 5-6 clothes, mostly 6-7, sometimes 7-8 in trousers. 9-10 would definitely swamp her. She is one of the 3 tallest girls in her class.

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 13/11/2017 23:07

Mine is 6.5, around 130cm and is 75th percentile for weight so in a healthy ratio. She wears anything from 5-6 (tops only) to 7-8, occasionally 9-10, for height. She is one of the tallest in her year, with long legs that win her races!

JamesDelayneysTattoos · 13/11/2017 23:12

My dd is 6.5 and 127cms. She wears 7-8 clothes that fit from most places. She’s average in her class, yr 2

slimyslitheryslug · 13/11/2017 23:52

That seems very short to be wearing age 8-9 clothes. DD was about 128cm when she started to need 8-9 clothes in just about all shops rather than a couple where they size small or it was something that I wanted to get good wear from.

Thesunrising · 16/11/2017 03:37

DD is 6.4 and 110cm. She eats really well. Not sure there is much of a relationship between food intake and height (apart from in extreme circumstances), it’s more down to genetics.

OldWitch00 · 16/11/2017 03:56

stretch marks are genetic

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 16/11/2017 04:08

129, almost 7, underweight. On the tall side but by no means the tallest in her age group, I'd say 1/4 or 1/5 of the girls in her year are as tall as her.

I too can't see your rationale. Please don't make your daughter self-conscious about stretch marks.

mersaanaa · 02/03/2020 15:01

My dd is 6 years old 130 cm and 38kg
