Piriton by mistake!

I just gave ds (5) a spoonful of Piriton instead of Calpol by mistake! He has already had Penicillin and I've had to give him Calpol too.
Anyone know if this is ok!?

It's fine.

Piriton is pretty harmless, and is fine to give alongside Calpol and penicillin.

Was it roughly the right dose of piriton for his age?

If so, totally different drug, so I can't see a problem.

The thing to watch out for most is medication both with paracetamol in, but that's less likely to be a problem with a child as you can't give them lemsip etc anyway.

Why wouldn't it be?

Because he doesn't need it I suppose?
Thanks, it was slightly more than he should have had but I'm assuming it may make him sleepy, (which wouldn't be so bad as he was up most of the night coughing).
I just panicked a bit and felt guilty!

It won’t be a problem. All are different drugs for different things.

I have my dd who's now 6 the wrong dose of calpol once by mistake. It was 2.5 ml more than should have been. I was also knackered and been up all night with her been poorly she was about 4 at the time. Rang 111 in a panic and they said it's fine as long as you don't give her over the max amount in 24 hours it's fine.

Don't worry we all make mishaps at some point

It's fine, mine regularly have piriton and if they need Calpol im looking at you teething ds2 I'll just give it. Completely different active ingredients!
