Constant coughing

My 2 year old is in bed and coughing what feels like constantly but in reality about 10 or so coughs in a row with a few minutes up to 5/10 minutes in between.

Have given 10 puffs about 20 minutes ago - but no difference to coughing yet. Have been up every 10 minutes, no nasal flaring or audible wheeze, no other signs of struggling except the coughing.

She has been poorly with lots of chest things in the past, a couple of pneumonias (on x ray) & asthma she is under a chest specialist with a barium swallow in November.

But tonight is there anything else I should be doing? The cough has been there for two weeks but worse at night for last two nights, but last night it stopped with inhaler.

I probably just need to be more patient for the inhaler.

Ice cold water can help. Not ideal if she's asleep though.

If you have Vick’s chest rub, put it in the feet and put socks on. Helps them stop coughing

Thanks just got her up so I can just check her breathing rate a bit better & check I am not missing any red flags. I will try water.

I find nurofen or even calpol helps to stop these types of coughing episodes. Seems to reduce the urge to cough. May or may not work for you.

A humidifier in the room can also really help
