Chicken pox - only 3 spots

My2 year old came out in 3 spots on Friday. They were the perfect chicken pox spots (hip,rib,ear so not even near each other.) so I am in no doubt they are pox spots (it’s going around pre school and our primary school.

Nothing else since, bit of a temp and full of snot yesterday.

They’ve all crusted over now.

We assumed more would appear over the weekend but they haven’t at all. Surely this can’t be it? is he still contagious if it’s over and done with this quickly and spots have crusted?

My eldest had it years ago and all came out over 2-3 days, took about a week to recover so this has thrown me totally!

The only times I've know children that have had chickenpox that mildly they've then had it at a later date again.
So either it looked like chickenpox but wasn't, or they didn't build up enough immunity.

If it IS the chicken pox virus, they won't get it again.

Only reason people think they have had it twice, is when they misdiagnose it in the first case.

Oh and my son had it mildly. Just a few spots. Wasn't sure if it was chicken pox, until my sister came down with it terrible you, spots everywhere (she had caught it off him)

I got it when I was a baby and I only had 2 spots. I've had shingles twice though and none of my siblings have had!

DD has had chicken pox twice. Both times confirmed by gp and during outbreaks at preschool then nursery. Obviously there was no blood test or anything so possible that the first time around the gp (and everyone else who saw it) misdiagnosed but I'm very familiar with CP spots and had no doubt in my mind that's what it was. First time was very mild, second time was awful.

Posted too soon. So yes, very possible to have it but with only a few spots. Hopefully that will be it and your DS has got off lightly.

Everything was crusted over and done with on day 4.....
Today, day 5, he has woken up covered in more spots!

I have concluded it’s a nasty strand of the virus created intentionally to tip the mother over the edge and give false hope of a quick recovery and then extend recovery even further.

Oh dear poor kid! Hopefully they’ll clear up soon.

I was just coming on to say that of my two boys that got it last winter, eldest was pretty miserable,
Youngest (18 m) only had a handful of spots and wasn’t remotely bothered by them.
