Itchy feet

My 5yo dd has been getting itchy feet at night and it's happening more and more frequently. I have absolutely no idea what could be causing it as there seems to be no pattern to when it happens. Her feet look perfectly normal when it happens which is always at night and she wakes up quite distressed, she has no dry skin or rashes on her feet and it doesn't seem to matter whether they are hot or cold or whether she's worn socks or not to bed. I give her piriton and rub some moisturiser into the soles of her feet and she settles eventually but I'm at a loss as to what's causing it! Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas what could be causing it?

I have had this for years but I have really dry skin and also thyroid problems. Could be worth mentioning to dr as mine does get worse when my thyroxine needs adjusting.

Could it be her blood circulation?

Chilblains?

If chilblains - calamine lotion helped. Giving the feet and toes a good massage.

Thanks for the replies, don't think it's chilblains as her feet aren't red or swollen, they look perfectly normal. Perhaps a trip to the drs is in order Smile

Hi- just want to check if you made any progress towards finding out what the problem is? My DC is currently experiencing the same. No rash and feet look normal, but she complains that they are really itchy. She also comments that sometimes during the day it feels like ‘blood is flowing from her feet into her shoe’. When she removes her shoe there’s no blood there.

Hi! I was wondering how all the little ones gotten along? My DD is experiencing the same and there's a wait for the GP right now...

@coccockneylass

My DD also says it feels like a snake is going down her leg :(

Hi. Just seeing if you got any answers? My 3 year old girl is saying the same thing. She said there's a wiggling feeling in her feet, feels like a snake movement down her feet to the soles of her feet. I never heard anything like it and I'm struggling to find anything online. I'd appreciate any help

Hi @MOD2024

I'll provide my update :)
The GPs provided all sorts of cream and they never really worked. We then went to see a paeds doctor who prescribed a medication that would 'tell her' it wasn't itching. We didn't give her that as it had side effects we weren't keen on.
I spent nights massaging her legs and feet. I also used tea tree oil.
She still rubs between her toes to this day (7) but she doesn't complain it bothers her.
Hope that helps.
