Discharge from anus

My son (5) seems to have some mucus discharge. I say 'seems to have' because I have only seen the dried stains in his underwear. It is white/yellowish in colour and it does not smell.
His bum is very itchy too and today is was bright red

We have an appointment with the doctor next week, but I wondered if anyone had any experience?

Don’t worry they’re just the Bain of the life like head lice. Keep some shit in the cupboard for future use. I worm mine regular, like the cat.
