DMSA scan 4yo

Hello!
Bit of background:-
Daughter was born with duplex kidneys. The split function is 67% and 33%. The upper pole of one kidney does not function at all. She has suffered regular urine infections despite being on anti biotics since birth. Over the past year I have worried as she is always tired, her urine smells so strong and she always has small accidents.

She is booked for a DMSA scan on Tuesday. She had one of these done when she was a baby and it all went smoothly. I am slightly worried about this time. The letter states she has to be admitted to a ward at 08:30am and her scan is at 10:30. The letter says that if she is unwell to inform them as she won't be well enough for sedation, however there is no information about her being sedated on the letter or no instructions about fasting etc.

Has anybody experienced this with a 4yo before and could possibly tell me about what happened? I am going to ring the hospital in the morning but I can't stop thinking about it now.

Thank you for listening. Feel better already.

Mine had one as a baby too - I don't recall sedation? They insert a dye and they lie there - surely if they don't sedate babies they won't sedate a 4 year old?!
You'll get more answers when you ring up - might well just be a mistake on the letter

Yes I hope so.

Thanks for the reply
